19.10.04 -- Infront Sports & Media has reached an exclusive agreement with a group of leading Nordic broadcasters for a substantial package of rights to FIFA's top events, including the 2006 FIFA World Cup™.

Zug, Switzerland, 19 October 2004 -- Infront Sports & Media has reached an exclusive agreement with a group of leading Nordic broadcasters for a substantial package of rights to FIFA's top events, including the 2006 FIFA World Cup™.
 
The agreement covers live and delayed television and radio broadcast rights for the FIFA Confederations Cup 2005 in Germany, the FIFA World Youth Championship 2005 in the Netherlands and all 64 matches of the 2006 FIFA World Cup™ in Germany.
 
The broadcasters forming part of the group that negotiated for the rights are:

• TV4 AB, Sweden

• SVT, Sweden

• DR - Danmarks Radio TV, Denmark

• TV2 Danmark A/S, Denmark

• Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation Ltd (NRK), Norway

• TV2 Gruppen AS, Norway

• Yleisradio OY, Finland

All these broadcasters were Broadcast Partners of the 2002 FIFA World Cup™, with the exception of TV2 Norway. All are free-to-air TV broadcasters, delivering substantial audiences.
 
Oliver Seibert, an Executive Director of Infront, said: "This is a highly significant deal that guarantees the best audience reach in this substantial territory. It also means that the picture of FIFA World Cup™ coverage in Europe is now nearing completion".
 
Rolf Porsborn, Head of Administration at SVT Sports, spoke on behalf of all broadcasters in the group, saying: "This agreement is also the best possible deal for viewers in the region, as it will ensure universal access to the FIFA World Cup™ matches and wide coverage of the event. "
 
With the Nordic agreement, the majority of the European agreements for the broadcast of the 2006 FIFA World Cup™ are now finalised, with recent announcements of deals with RMC Radio in France, Czech TV for the Czech Republic, RTBF in Belgium, ARD/ZDF in Germany, as well as with RTL for a defined package of live rights; HRT for Croatia; the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation – SRG SSR idée suisse - for the Swiss broadcasting rights; NOS for Holland; EESTI Television for Estonia; the Romanian Television Corporation (TVR), and Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation SA (ERT) for Greece.
